Featured Interview with Geeks OUT!
When my agent reached out to me about Geeks OUT's interest in interviewing me, I felt so honored! It's always encouraging to see how we can uplift each other in our unique communities, and as someone who grew up as a somewhat stereotypical-but-luckily-unperturbed nerd, it brings indescribable inner pride to be featured by an organization like this. Thank you Geeks OUT!

HOORAY! Just Announced, My Next Picture Book to be Published in 2025!
It's PW-official now—I'm *ecstatic* to announce my next book SPARKLES FOR SUNNY: A Lunar New Year Story (illustrated by Thai My Phuong, published by Flamingo Books / Penguin Random House) will be published in Fall 2025! Still a good while away, but thrilling all the same. Claire Tattersfield at Flamingo Books has bought world rights to Sparkles for Sunny: A Lunar New Year Story by Sylvia Chen (l.), illustrated by Thai My Phuong, a picture book about a girl who is tired of wearing a hand-me-down qípáo to the Lunar New Year parade, and takes matters into her own hands to make hers and her sisters' qípáos their own. Publication is planned for fall 2025; Alyssa Henkin at Birch Path Literary represented the author, and Christy Ewers at the CAT Agency represented the illustrator.

A Practical Resource for #Kidlit Educators!
When fellow author—and @KidLitWorks promo group co-member—Sara Holly Ackerman asked me what could be most helpful for a TRICKY CHOPSTICKS feature by Picture Book Builders, I thought about what I had already shared for other interviews and reviews. I try to provide different nuggets of insight for each one, and an area I felt needed more attention was TRICKY CHOPSTICKS from an educator's viewpoint. Which happens to be (one of) Sara's specialties—if you check her background, you'll find that Sara is a master of pretty much EVERYTHING! In this unique Picture Book Builders post, Sara shares 4 key ways to use TRICKY CHOPSTICKS in the classroom: as an engaging read-aloud, for mentor text use, plus STEM learning, and social studies connections. Such a powerful guide, hope you find it useful if you're looking for new and cool classroom ideas!
